My PhD focuses on the physiological mechanisms that drive the invasiveness of fruit flies in South Africa. Specifically, I will study the basal and plastic responses to desiccation stress across a range of Tephritidae species, and how these responses interact with climatic variables to facilitate the spread of this important pest species
